Roger Dorband - Rogue River Images
Local Photographer Roger Dorband will be exhibiting color images of the Rogue River, the photographs being shown are a selection from his book “The Rogue, Portrait of a River”. Misfortune struck the artist in the autumn of 2008 when his studio in the Sanborn Building at 10th and Commercial in downtown Astoria was destroyed by fire. Dorband lost many original art works, both his own and other artists’ work from his personal collection. Now that the darkest days after the fire are behind him, Dorband is enjoying Astoria and says that he really likes the enthusiasm for the arts that exists here. “I am really thrilled with the arrival of Lightbox Gallery, the only gallery on the North Coast and one of a few in Oregon that is dedicated exclusively to photography. It has the potential to become an institution that Astorians can be proud of.”
