Our Mission

LightBox Photographic Gallery opened in June 2009 and was established to provide a center for the promotion of creative and alternative photography on the North Coast of Oregon. LightBox provides a venue for the display of the finest photographic prints, where photographic artists can show their work, share their vision, and inspire other photographers and individuals. LightBox encourages the continued use of film and traditional photographic methods and the appreciation of historical and alternative processes and seeks to discover and recognize the finest methods and works in digital photography. LightBox wishes to influence the community in the recognition of photography as fine art, educate in the techniques and methods involved in creating photographic images and prints, and experience the vision of many unique individual artists and styles.

LightBox serves as a gathering place for photographers and individuals in this community who appreciate fine photography, bringing together many who had not previously had an opportunity to meet. We have the pleasure of hosting shows for some very talented photographic artists and show works of a variety of styles and processes. Our group shows provide an opportunity for many photographers to display their work for the first time in a dedicated photographic gallery. We have enjoyed each and every day presenting these works and meeting all those who have come into the gallery and are proud to have brought this resource to Astoria.
