Collaborating on this Photographic Group show, this exhibit celebrates LightBox Photographic Gallery’s and Plates to Pixels online gallery’s appreciation of the finest works of photographic imagery. These established exhibition spaces, one in this dimension and one in the virtual world, along with Diffusion Magazine, promote the best of alternative and creative photography. We wish to showcase a group of the most imaginative and process oriented photographic artists working in the field today.
In this group exhibition we feature works that have a strong conceptual voice balanced with a high level of craftsmanship. We encouraged photographers working in all mediums of photographic art, from mixed media, alternative process, silver gelatin, to innovative digital methods to submit. The exhibit is encompasses a wide-range of work that represents the unconventional methods currently available to photographers.
Selections for the exhibit will be showcased on Plates to Pixels and a ‘Publisher’s Award’ has been awarded to Christine Anderson, who’s work will be featured in the upcoming ‘special’ issue of Diffusion Magazine to be released in September 2013.
Juror’s Statement
I am very impressed with the amount of passion poured into the physical prints we’re featuring in Photo+Craft 2. I noted in the call-for-art that I was hoping to be moved by the submissions and I was not disappointed. The amount of unique work and processes, the high level of craftsmanship and the artists’ dedication to photography as an art, reinvigorates my soul…I hope it does the same for our viewers! I’m proud to award Christina Z. Anderson the Publisher’s Award, her work will be featured in the upcoming special edition of Diffusion. Thanks to every one who submitted and helping to keep the craft of photography alive!
