“Making photographs can be a solitary process. I prefer to travel and photograph alone in search of those images. My subjects will speak to me, sometimes in a whisper, so being alone and listening closely is important to my process. I tend to gravitate toward singular objects that stand alone in contrast to their surroundings, in quiet places that evoke a sense of mystery, whether it be from the quality of the light or the subject itself. To visualize a finished image is a continual thrill to me, and the process never gets old, even after 50 years of practice.” ~ Jody Miller
