Jim Fitzgerald • A Banquet of Light
A Banquet of Light will be on view until September 8th.
The exhibit of Carbon Transfer Prints, along with a one of a kind hand bound carbon transfer fine press edition, “A Banquet of Light”, is a wonderful collection of images from the Rockefeller Forest in Humboldt Redwoods of Northern California. The images of A Banquet of Light represent the feeling of light, captured with 8×10 and 8×20 inch cameras and film by photographer Jim Fitzgerald. The hand crafted carbon transfer prints present one of a kind statements about the beauty that surrounds us in the forests and are created in the studio of the photographer.
Presented in a panoramic format of 15 × 52 inches, the hand bound edition contains eight finely crafted 8 × 20 inch carbon transfer prints tipped onto Rives BFK fine art 280 gsm watercolor paper. The additional exhibit images are all printed on specially coated Arches Platine 300 gram watercolor papers. All of the text for the editions is printed in the carbon transfer process. The volumes include a special portfolio of two 8 × 20 inch carbon transfer prints of the artists choice with certificates of authenticity and a hand bound cloth slip case. The edition is covered in Amate bark paper, a special paper crafted by the Otami artisans of central Mexico using the same methods of their mesoamerican ancestors from nearly 3,000 years ago.
