John Houser
I love black and white photography, particularly when taking pictures of people or landscapes. Limiting the color palette often reduces distractions and helps the viewer focus on the subject. I'm also a big fan of texture, and black and white can help to emphasize that. I photograph in color when color is a critical part of the composition, when a color guides the viewer to the subject, when the color is needed to enhance contrast, or when it evokes a particular emotion. Regardless of whether I am planning on printing in color or black and white, I always shoot in RAW format and adjust the color and exposure for the individual photograph.
