Jim Bailey is an established scientist, an emerging visual artist, and a persistent wilderness journeyman based in Albuquerque and Taos, New Mexico, USA.
His experiments at the Z-machine laboratory involve heating atoms to million-degree temperatures to learn how atoms inside stars and around black holes interact with light.
Thirty years printing in the traditional darkroom honed a thoughtful, intuition-inspired approach to photography. The images I make today combine digital, analog, and hand altering techniques, but the foundation is the same.
My artistic practice is simultaneously informed by scientific creative passions and the spirit of wonder that arises in nature.
