LightBox Photographic Gallery opened the doors on June 13, 2009. Since that day nearly 600 photographers have shown prints on the walls of the gallery. We have had countless events, artist presentations, workshops, classes, exhibit openings, gatherings and member photo group meetings. The journey has been quite an adventure, very rewarding, and a lot of very hard work!

From the day we took on the job of building the space to prepare for our grand opening, we have invested everything we have into our dream of bringing a photographic center and gallery to the North Coast of Oregon. Please take a look at the transition of an empty space into the brick and mortar gallery we all know. We have traveled down this road with a history of over 40 exhibits , having spent each day moving forward, growing, and continually planning the next step.

As we built the gallery nearly four short years ago we had a message that was centered on the door among all the brown paper that blocked the view into the space from the outside. “Leap and the net will appear”. It was a small card we bought and it gave us confidence in our risky endeavor. At this time we are facing the proverbial fiscal cliff and are needing to look to our supporters for help to rid the gallery of a huge debt we have incurred and growing overdue bills that threaten our survival. We are sincerely hoping the net will be there and that we are worth catching.

We have launched a fundraising campaign to save LightBox. We have chosen to bypass the popular Kickstarter type of funding campaign and develop our own personal campaign directly to all of our friends and followers. LightBox appreciates your good will and with your help will go forward. We are reorganizing and planning to propel past this hurdle to keep LightBox moving into the future where we hope to accomplish many more profound photographic exhibits, workshops and events. We have restructured our memberships so you may more easily choose the level of involvement you wish. We will be establishing a collective of Northwest Photographic Artists that will be an integral part of LightBox in the future, working with us and bringing their individual creative ideas and enthusiasm.

A community has grown around LightBox that has participated in and enjoyed the exhibits of the Photographic arts and education that LightBox strives to in our Mission Statement. If you are a LightBox supporter locally, regionally, nationally or even internationally, please take a moment to look at how you might help. We have many options for you that will help us get past this obstacle as we reorganize and plan for a bright future promoting the creative photographic arts on the North Coast of Oregon.

Today we celebrate what LightBox is and we thank all of you for your interest over the years and for being followers, supporters and believers in LightBox. We are still looking ahead to make LightBox everything we hoped for in the beginning, and much more!

Thank You!
