Per Bjesse is a swedish/american skateboarder and analog photographer currently living in Portland, OR. This photo is an entry in a longer series of black and white film photos of skateboarding shot with a vintage medium format architectural camera. The camera is designed around the lens, and its design sacrified through-the-lens focusing and framing for improved optics. As a result the camera has to be used purely on instinct, which leads to an interesting dynamic when shooting something as fast-moving as skateboarding. The shots in the series hence represents moments in time where both the athlete and the photographer manage to get everything right.
