I am a Portland-based photographer, whose work includes landscape, street and portrait photography, as well as scanography. I am a retired ESL teacher who has taught in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United States, most recently at Portland State University. After discovering photography about ten years ago, I quickly developed many photographic interests. Both landscape and street photography appeal to my love of wandering and exploring new places, while my interest in portraiture stems from my desire to work collaboratively with my subjects. In addition, I have recently begun exploring the genre of scanner photography, using flowers and other botanical specimens to create “virtual” bouquets. My scanography work has been an excellent way to continue my creative efforts as I practice self isolation during the current pandemic. This image titled “Dance” is a celebration of the beauty and grace still to be found in the world during these troubled times.
