Byron Will

When first coming to a place I've been many times, or have never seen before, hesitation sets in. As painter Zao Wou Ki said "Why stop? Why carry on? Always the same problems. Always the same questions." What can I find today? What is the feeling and spirit? It's always a struggle, at first. Nature is often very patient. It has a long, unimaginable history. The immersion into color, shape, form, music and energy are gifts of our natural world; the solitude, smallness, state of wonder, thankfulness. Some gifts can be shared with others, as one might save, protect and return with a shell or a feather. There is always a gift of place, in the fullness of spring or the stark beauty of winter.
