richbergeman.zenfolio.com - Rich Bergeman - A native of Ohio and an Oregonian since 1976, I have been a writer, editor and educator during my adult career and a fine art photographer for nearly 30 years now. Much of that time has been devoted to chronicling the disappearing traces of Oregon's bygone days on both sides of the Cascades, in search of that evanescent combination of beauty and melancholy that charges things and places on the verge of vanishing. This work has resulted so far in two published portfolios ("Tidewaters: Looking Back on Oregon's Coast Range Rivers" and "East of Eden: Baker County Country", both available at blurb.com). Publications in progress focus on remnants of the homestead era in Central Oregon's Fort Rock Valley, vanishing place names in the Coast Range, and frontiersman James Clyman's travels through the Willamette Valley in 1845. I use large-format film cameras, pinhole film cameras and digital cameras, and print in both the traditional platinum process and in contemporary archival pigment ink.
